Pop culture obsessives writing for the pop culture obsessed.
Gina Rodriguez (center) and Andrea Navedo in Jane The Virgin

In the Mom On Pop podcast, Bonney Teti—mother of A.V. Club senior editor John Teti—shares her unfiltered thoughts on the pop culture of the day.

Mom and I continue our survey of new fall TV shows this week with discussion of How To Get Away With Murder, the freshman entry in ABC’s weekly Shonda Rimes smorgasbord. Before that, we dig into Jane The Virgin, a telenovela that’s premiering soon on the CW. Mom doesn’t see what the big deal is about Jane being a virgin, and the rest of the show’s premise doesn’t sit too well with her either. We also talk about pop-up ads, Candy Crush Saga, and a new contest for listeners, with prizes hand-picked by Mom!

My audio’s a bit clipped and scratchy in this one; sorry about that. I didn’t have access to my usual recording setup and had to improvise. (Frankly, with all the jury-rigging this week’s episode involved, it’s a miracle you can hear me at all.)

Mom On Pop is available on iTunes, and there’s a podcast RSS feed if you want to subscribe to the show in other apps. Never miss an episode!
