Anna Paquin as Rogue in X2 (2003)

Who she is: Rogue, a.k.a. Marie D’Ancanto

Her power: Rogue can absorb the memories, personalities, and abilities of other people by touching them, but touching for too long can prove fatal. If she touches other mutants, she takes on their powers.

Her story: Rogue starts as one of the main figures of the X-Men Universe but gets less prominent over time. She debuts in X-Men, running away from home after nearly killing her boyfriend and befriending Wolverine when she makes her way to Canada. They’re both brought in to Xavier’s School For Gifted Youngsters, but Rogue has trouble fitting in and runs away again, right into the hands of Magneto, who transfers his powers to her so she can power his deadly machine. The X-Men save Rogue before the machine kills her, and in X2, she’s fully acclimated to her new school and in a romantic relationship with Iceman. They escape William Stryker’s attack on the school with their friend Pyro and accompany the X-Men when they launch their assault on Stryker’s Alkali Lake base. When a mutant cure is introduced in X-Men: The Last Stand, Rogue rids herself of the burden of her mutation so she can finally have physical contact with her boyfriend. A subplot involving Rogue was cut from X-Men: Days Of Future Past, and she only appears in a brief cameo in the scene establishing the new XMU timeline.

Played by: Anna Paquin

Currently, Rogue is: Still at Xavier’s School and dating Iceman. She has her powers back because Days Of Future Past wiped The Last Stand from the timeline.

Where will we see her next? There are no plans for Rogue to appear in any future X-movies, and the Days Of Future Past cut shows that the XMU isn’t all that interested in giving Rogue time in the spotlight.
