Who she is: Moira MacTaggert

Her power: Moira MacTaggert has no superpowers, but she could kick your ass and finish your biology homework after if she wanted.

Her story: CIA Agent Moira MacTaggert is one of the earliest human allies of Charles Xavier and his X-Men, reaching out to Xavier for help in taking down the Hellfire Club in X-Men: First Class. In the final fight against Magneto, MacTaggert fires one of the bullets that accidentally hits Charles Xavier’s back and paralyzes him, and MacTaggert is briefly Xavier’s caretaker until he wipes her memory in one of his shittiest moves. With no recollection of her past history with Xavier, MacTaggert continues to work with the CIA, and she’s the first person to discover the rise of En Sabah Nur in X-Men: Apocalypse. She works with the X-Men again and everyone just pretends like this is their first time meeting her even though they know that Professor X wiped her memory against her will, but at least she has her memory restored by the end of the film. As seen in X-Men: The Last Stand, MacTaggert and Xavier maintain a relationship for decades more, with MacTaggert caring for Xavier’s brain-dead twin brother in an especially convenient plot development that allows Charles to die in that movie, but have his consciousness transferred to a different body that looks exactly the same.

Played by: Rose Byrne in X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Apocalypse, Olivia Williams in X-Men: The Last Stand.

Currently, Moira MacTaggert is: Working with the CIA and reestablishing a relationship with Charles Xavier now that her memory has been rightfully restored.

Where will we see her next? Moira MacTaggert is likely going to continue teaming up with the X-Men, and given that she’s a scientist and doctor in X-Men: The Last Stand, she may leave the CIA to work with Xavier and the growing mutant population.
